Weekend Warm Up Show #150 16th/1th Of July

LISTEN AGAIN HERE!

Hello Again,

the World Cup is over, no more football… Bored? Your life is empty? One more reasons to listen to the happy sounds of the Weekend Warm Up! This is what you will get this time:

Grammy and IDMA Nominated producer Dave Audé released a bumpin’ floor filler called “Figure It Out” with newcomer Isha Coco on vocals. Infectious! My track of the week - 10/10!

Lonnie Gordon, a female singer-songwriter from N.Y. Bronx, had a couple of chart hits during the 1990’s and 2000’s and her biggest success was a song written and produced by legendary Stock, Aitken, Waterman. “Happening All Over Again” has originally been written for Donna Summer, but Gordon recorded it instead and released the single in January 1990. It became an instant smash, peaking at #4 in the UK and becoming a big hit around Europe. The Fierce Collective Ft. the wonderful Soraya Vivian covered the track for the latest Fierce Angels compilation “Fierce Disco IV“. The retro this week.

What else? Beautiful summer house like Bonnie Bailey’s brand new “Fall Into My Heart” from her upcoming album or the wonderful Soltrenz release by Celia called “My Story“. New songs from big names like Rihanna, Basshunter or The Saturdays with the Cahill remix of “Missing You“.

Lot’s of excellent reasons to forget about your “No Football” - Blues. In case you are into football of course… :) Enjoy the show!

As always you will get fresh and uplifting tracks from around the world - with several songs from artists and producers from Italy this time. Amazing how many awesome funky vocal house tracks are coming from Roma, Milano & Co….

My favourite this time is a song that is not brand new - after 3 years of pre-releasing “Love To The Stars” by Alex Tripi and Nello Greco aka The ReLOUD from Rome Italy has been fully released on Ocean Trax. Brilliant songwriting, awesome vocals… This is simply excellent house music. 10/10!

More from Italy? Another new funky winner is coming from Donati & Amato aka Hernandez Vs. DJ Tyo, If you like piano driven house with a catchy hook and good vocals you will enjoy “Get Up & Go” - as well as “New Sensation“, the upcoming new single of Samuele Sartini’s Sam Project. He also delivers the remix of Sandy Chamber’s Cloud No.9.

In 1986 voice actress, actress, singer, songwriter and musician E.G. Daily from L.A. California had a No.1 single in the U.S. Hot Dance Music/Club Play Charts with “Say It Say It“. Weekend Warm Up Show #147 25th/26th Of June

LISTEN AGAIN HERE!

Hi again,

I am back from Ibiza, had a wonderful time there, made new friends, enjoyed some sun (although we had some rain too…), had some nice drinks (I discovered that the british Cider is wonderful refreshing, best on ice!), but musically I was a bit disappointed. Bars and clubs do not play a lot of funky uplifting music there, so back home I had to go through hundreds of new tracks I got last week and a dozen of them made it into the new show, here is the result - enjoy!

Former glamour model and dance-pop singer Samantha Fox and the Italian singer, model and actress Sabrina Salerno both had a couple of chart successes in the 80’s and came together for the first time to cover the massive Blondie smash “Call Me” from 1980, taken from the soundtrack of “American Gigolo” with Richard Gere. The Original made it on No.1 in both the U.K. and the U.S.. The Andrea T Mendoza and Steven Tibet remix is the retro track this weekend.

Black Gold, a Brooklyn N.Y. based two man band formed in 2006 delievers my favourite this week. Their latest single “Shine” got some brilliant remix treatment by Dave Aude and Stonebridge. Hard to decide which one is better as both versions are strong - I picked the Stonebridge for you as my favourite.

And there is more: beautiful funky Vocal House old school style by Inaya Day, Diego Ray and Nick Corline released on Adaptor Records, the first House Keepers release in two years called “Better Forget” (the DJ Martin remix is excellent!), JR Disco reworked Gary Byrd’sThe Crown“…

No need to go to Ibiza to listen to good dance music! ;-)

The Tracklist:

1. Alexis Jordan - Happiness (Dave Aude Club Mix)
2. Inaya Day Vs. Diego Ray & Nick Corline - Til The Morning Comes (Diego Ray Original Mix)

The Retro Track
3. Samantha Vs. Sabrina - Call Me (Andrea T Mendoza Vs. Tibet Original Club)

4. Alain Bertoni Ft. Jimmy Splitter - Shining Star (Old School Remix)
5. Retrodance - Don’t Stop The Music Please (Ariel Perazzolli Remix)
6. Kylie Minogue - All The Lovers (Wawa & MMB Anthem Mix)
7. Wayne G & Peyton - Ur The Best Thing (Steve Westover Original Mix)
8. The House Keepers Ft. Camille Jones - Better Forget (DJ Martin Remix)

DJ’s Favourite This Week
9. Black & Gold - Shine (Stonebridge Club Mix)

10. Junior Caldera Ft. Sophie Ellis Bextor - Can’t Fight This Feeling (Avicii Universe Mix)
11. Michael Canitrot - You & I (Original Extended Mix)
12. JR Disco Ft. Gary - The Crown

Hi Weekenders,

I am on vacation - one week on the party island Ibiza, hope that I will bring back a couple of new songs from there for you… Meanwhile enjoy this edition, hope you will like these tracks as much as I do!

One of my favourite male vocalists Peyton and one of the finest U.K. DJ’s/Producer’s Wayne G worked together on the funky “Ur The Best Thing“, a D:Ream cover. Very well done!

Nu Shooz, a U.S. group based in Portland, had their biggest chart success in 1986 with “I Can’t Wait” which climbed to #3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and on #2 in the U.K.. Ohsha Kai’s remake is our retro track this week.

e-Squire delivers my favourite this week, the piano driven “Over You“, with U.S. based Polina Griffith(A Studio), originally from Riga (Latvia), on vocals. She is the face behind one of the biggest dancefloor anthems “S.O.S.” (A’Studio feat. Polina Griffith).

Have a sunny weekend!

Weekend Warm Up 145 11th/12th Of June

LISTEN AGAIN HERE!

Hi again,

I am really excited that I am able to present two tracks that have never been on the radio before! World Premier No.1 is the wicked Audio Glitter remix of “Perfect Guy” by Sosua & Mad Ft. Treesha Moore. We listened to the Original Mix before already, the remix package is awesome also and the big room Audio Glitter take will definitely cause some serious damage on dancefloors worldwide!

World Premier No.2: the Bassmonkeys are back with a new Original production. This time Dale, Danny and Mike from Norwich, U.K. worked together with Natasha Anderson on another perfect Vocal House track called “I’ll Show You Loving“. Always a pleasure to have them on air…

In 2007 Warren Clarke released his first song on a Hed Kandi compilation under his Jonni Black guise, he always teamed up with excellent female vocalists like Shena to create high quality and uplifting vocal house tracks. We will listen to two Jonni Black tracks this weekend: showopener is the first JB song ever called “Raise” Ft. Una Mas and from the Beach House 2010 sampler we will enjoy what Hed Kandi calls a “sultry summer scorcher”: “Out Of Love” featuring Kelly-Marie Smith on vocals.

My favourite: England’s McLean, called “the modern day Marvin Gaye”, and his new single “Finally In Love“, perfectly remixed by M’Black. Love his vocals and the vocal arrangement… 10/10!

Cyndi Lauper’s ballad “Time After Time” was one of the most successful singles worldwide in 1984, it reached No.1 in the U.S. and No.3 in the U.K.. Rikah’s great new dance version can be found on the “Best Of 80’s” Dance compilation released by Capp Records.

Weekend Warm Up #144 4th/5th Of June

LISTEN AGAIN HERE!

Hi Friends,

got my hands on a couple of wonderful new songs for you from big names as well as upcoming new artists and producers. Talking about big names: Michael Buble is not one of the usual artists appearing in a dance mixshow. But his latest hit “Haven’t Met You Yet” got an awesome remix by Richard Cutmore! The label liked it so much that they approved an official video to the remix. So even if you are not a big fan of Michael’s music, have a good listen. This one is brilliant!

Do you like retro’s as much as I do? Then this edition is for you: listen to a couple of remakes of classic hits like “Dancing On The Ceiling” by Lionel Richie from 1986 (#2 in the U.S., #7 in the U.K. charts) reworked by Soul Seekerz Ft. Aimee. The Nu Addiction Club Mix does not sound like the original but goes in a completely different direction. Will work extremely well on every dancefloor! Or check out Fab’s Club version of Ben E King’sStand By Me” from 1961. This is a request by my promoter Barbara Sobel - Barbara, here is your beloved Fab… ;-) The song can be found on a compilation released by Capp Records called “Best Of 80’s Dance” in case you like Fab as much as Barbara do! And you might remember the 1983 smash by U.K. Funk Band Freeez called “I.O.U.“. Vision X with Angie Norris on vocals recorded a new version, Listen to Rossko’s funky remix.

My favourite? Country goes House… The Hott 22 remix of “Need You Now” by U.S. Country band Lady Antebellum is a really catchy take with uplifting strings and bouncy beats. Love it!

OR is it “She’s Gone” by Belgium’s upcoming R&B singer Nelson? His vocals are incredible good, he sounds like the young Stevie Wonder! OR is it the first Saul Ruiz remix I am spinning, his version of “Fight For You” by Morgan Page is perfect! OR maybe the wicked Disco House track called “1 2 3” by U.K.’s Frater & Stent? It can also be the second Nu Addiction remix in the show - Macy Gray’sLately” is a request I got from loyal listener Harvey Chan. And if YOU have a personal favourite you want me to spin, please let me know: mixgeselle@gmail.com!

Hello Weekenders,

new albums from big names in the music industry are on the way and I was reading very controversial comments about the new songs by Scissor Sisters and Kylie Minogue. The album mix of Scissor SistersFire With Fire” has been produced by Stuart Price (Thin White Duke, Jaques Lu Cont) and it sounds a bit like a Killers song (what is good of course!), Maxi Promotion wrote “…70’s arena rock pathos with an electronic edge…” - yes, maybe… and I really like it! Digital Dog made the remix for the dancefloors, check it out and let me know what YOU think!

Kylie’s new album “Aphrodite” is set to be released in Juli and the first single will be “All The Lovers“. I was not really excited when I listened to the album version of this song, produced by Jim Eliot and co-produced by - surprise, surprise - Stuart Price. But there is an awesome uplifting remix available by Wawa & MMB. Almost my favourite this week…

La Moon A couple of summer tracks made it into the tracklist like my favourite song this time by La Moon, “A Higher Space” is a beautiful and catchy feel good track that sounds a bit like Bob Sinclar’sLove Generation“. Did someone had the Football World Championships in mind while producing this song? Anyway, very well done! 10/10

Last but not least we will have another 2 From 1 again - 2 versions of 1 song in the mix. This time it is the new Scarlette Fever song “Cheating Man“, remixed by Soulshaker and 7th Heaven.

LISTEN AGAIN HERE!

Hi again,

it will be a long weekend in Germany with Monday off from work, there is finally some warm weather and sun in the forecast and I am looking forward to present some hot new music… Life is good!

It’s always a pleasure and big fun to have a new Hernandez (Franco Amato) Vs. DJ Tyo (Diego Donati) release in the show. They deliver again, “Number One” is another funky, piano driven song totally made for the Weekend Warm Up. 10/10

Sandra is a very successful German singer and songwriter with several No.1 hits in Europe as well as in Egypt, Brazil or Japan, but not in the U.S. or the U.K.. She was also the “mysterious voice” in Michel Cretu’s (her former husband) project Enigma. “Secret Land” has been released in 1988 and made it into the Top Ten in Germany, South Africa and Switzerland. The polish duo Wawa with Sharon May Linn on vocals made a remake of this song which is our retro track this time.
