Weekend Warm Up #118 27th/29th Of November

LISTEN AGAIN TO THIS SHOW: CLICK HERE!

Hello Weekenders,

ready for a new party weekend? If not, listen to this show and you will be all set to party the whole weekend, I promise… ;-) Listen to new tracks by the Groove Invaders, Late Night Alumni or Whitney Houston and to more Disco House by Red Hot Dutch or Thimo U Seidel.

The Retro is one of the most popular 80ies songs ever - “The Wild Boys“, originally composed, recorded and performed by Duran Duran. Swiss dance combo Pilgrim tried around in studio for years with that melody until they were finally satisfied with the result. “To cover a legendary song like this, it needs time. Otherwise you fail and it sounds just like a rough copy”, says Dorian, who lend his great voice to the song. Well done, guys - their 80’s Touch remix is absolutely perfect!

Another song sounds like it has been produced in the 80’s. Did you know that Saint’sAfter You’re Gone” is a previously unreleased song written by the legendary Stock, Aitken & Waterman? The much talked about 80’s revival mix is coming from King & McQueen. Nice!

From the latest Fierce Angels release straight into the Weekend Warm Up: The Fierce Collective Ft. Peyton (awesome vocals as always) and the Bassmonkeys remix (brilliant job as always) of “Sex On Fire“, a remake of the 2008 Kings Of Leon release. Besides of the vocals I am loving the guitar played by Ian Simpson (Stereojackers). The whole song was completed within a week because they only had a week to make the CD deadline - including recording guitars, recording Peyton and producing the track. The result: 100% PARTY! Love this one, my favourite this week!

Hi again,

strong new tracks for you, Weekenders! Besides well known tracks like Wilder & Clarke’sStand Up” or the favourite 3 weeks ago, World Sketch’sWonderful“, a couple of brand new and exclusive songs made it into the tracklist.

My top track this weekend is coming from polish newcomers Scibi and Loui with wonderful vocals by Jacob A. and a remix by brazilian superstar DJ Meme who delivers an anthem alike Piano Vocal hymn. This is BEAUTIFUL!! Check it out!

The Stereojackers consist of two extremely talented producers from the Newcastle upon Tyne area, who are rapidly establishing themselves as the most promising up & coming production/DJ outfit in the UK. Dan Boots’ and Ian Simpson’s remix of “Ships In The Night” by Cheri Moon is another highlight this weekend! Not to be missed…

Toni Granello presents his biggest record to date “Wings Of Love“, an essential cut that is currently causing a massive stir in Europe having already appeared highly in the ever influential German and the Swiss Dance Charts. Not only a producer, Toni is continuingly pushing his passion as a DJ to the limit and has played world-wide for some of the worlds biggest clubs.

The Retro this time, delivered by Agent Stereo from Santiago de Chile, is a remix of the 1979 release by Air Power called “Welcome To The Disco” - sexy Disco House music as requested by you via eMail.

Back to the music: pop remixes, disco house, funky tunes and a splash of rock, this is the music mix you can expect this weekend. “Hold On Tight” is the new single from Oliver Backens & Stefan Gruenwald (both from my hometown Hamburg, Germany) together with the wonderful female vocals of Ela Wardi. It is a cover version of one of the first House Classics from the early 90’s, the Original Mix is the one I am feelin’ - excellent!

Lady Marmelade“, originally released 1974 by Labelle, was a number one hit for one week on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the United States and has been covered by numerous artists like All Saints or for the Moulin’ Rouge Movie Soundtrack in 2001. The Retro Track this weekend is the Chic Flowerz version of this classic.

My favourite this week is a uplifting track called “I Need You” by a three man band from Italy called Hitfinders - pure party music, 10/10!

Last but not least a song by the U.K. alternative rock band Snow Patrol made it into the tracklist this weekend. Maybe not the usual genre I am spinning, but the Thin White Duke remix of “Just Say Yes“, a previous unreleased song from their new compilation Album “Up To Now“, blew me away so I had to add it to this show. Hope you will like it too…

Weekend Warm Up #115 6th/7th Of November

Hi Party People,

Disco House is back! Duck Sauce is a new collaboration between A-Trak and Armand Van Helden who teamed up to create new tracks in the spirit of their favorite vintage disco house tunes. Their first single “aNYway“, a remix of Final Edition’s 1979 disco release “I Can Do It“, will make you want to shake your booty - perfect for the warm up!

Wamdue Project’s biggest commercial success was “King Of My Castle“. The single reached number one in the United Kingdom in 1999 and was also a Billboard Hot Dance Club Play No.1 in 2000. Nicola Fasano and Steve Forest re-worked the song ten years after the original release, so is it O.K. to call it a retro already? I think yes - my retro track this weekend…

New on Born To Dance Records are Leggz & Gary Bardouille with “Come Together” - guaranteed to be rocking dance floors for a long time! This release is coming with a couple of remixes, I am feeling the Danny Owen take the most, a funky Hi-Energy remix which will work perfectly in clubs as well as in the show. My favourite this week.

Enjoy the party!
