Weekend Warm Up #114 30th/31st Of October

Welcome back to the worldwide party!

It’s no surprise that I am warming up your weekend with music coming from Europe or the U.S. but I did not expect that one of the best Vocal House tracks this year has been made in Japan! World Sketch are Moriya Tomoharu and Horiuti Motohiro and for their first album “Wonderful” they collaborated with a couple of fine vocalists, among others with the fabulous Jonathan Mendelsohn. Their first single release with the same name as the album is really “Wonderful” - very old school, extremly catchy and so positive, perfect vocal arrangements, and the piano… heaven! My favourite this weekend, hope you’ll agree…

One of the most popular German DJ’s/Producers are The Disco Boys, a two man team from Hamburg. Their 2004 Manfred Mann’s Earth Band rework of “For You” was their biggest commercial success so far and is still rocking the dancefloors in clubs here in Germany. Their new single samples Gazebo’s Italo Disco hit single “Lunatic” which made it into the Top Ten in his homecountry Italy as well as in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland in 1983.

The next surprise this weekend is a Foreigner cover by Mariah Carey! And the biggest surprise is: her version of “I Want To Know What Love Is” is not bad… On remix duty: Moto Blanco.

The next surprise: American country music singer and songwriter Martina McBride goes house! Her 2008 single “Ride” from her latest album “Shine” got a very nice remix by Mr. Lenny B. Well done, Lenny…

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Warm Up Show #113 23rd/24th Of October

Hello Friends,

the Weekend Warm Up is back with more hot new party tracks for a new groovy weekend! Show opener is another great mash-up, Bob Sinclar meets Craig David - get up and dance to it! - followed by my track of the week: Sallie Toussaint, born in Connecticut to Trinidadian parents and a former “Miss Connecticut” and “Miss USA World”, made her first appearance on the dance floors with “Uncomplicated“, remixed by one of my favourite producers, Soulshaker - I am a huge fan of their uplifting sound! Highly recommended!

Another new Erasure remix made it into the show as the Retro Track: “A Little Respect” from their 1988 album “The Innocents” peaked at #4 in the U.K. and hit number two on the U.S. Hot Dance Music Club Play chart. “A Little Respect” is known as one of their signature tunes and is in my opinion the best song they ever made. I am happy that the Wayne G rework stays close to the original.

French DJ/Producer/Remixer David Vendetta returns with force releasing “I Hope She Turns Around“, the first official single of his new album which is due out the beginning of 2010. The track is influenced by rock with a splash of electro and the vocals are brilliant!

Enjoy the weekend!

Weekend Warm Up 16th/17th Of October

Hi Weekenders,

time flies, a couple of days ago we had some late summer days and today we saw the first snowflakes here in Germany… Way too early if you ask me, but another good reason to warm up the weekend with new groovy tunes!

Dance recording artist Pepper MaShay is returning to airwaves and dance floors across the country this week with her latest single, “Freeway of Love“, to be released through dance record label CAPP Records.

The inimitable Pepper MaShay draws throngs of loyal fans during her frequent appearances around the world, and has been performing “Freeway of Love” throughout the summer to enthusiastic reviews. Penned by Narada Michael Walden and Jeffrey Cohen for Aretha Franklin’s legendary 1985 album “Who’s Zoomin’ Who“, fans and DJs alike have been clamoring for the release of Pepper’s take on the song. The excellent Steely M. & Cary August remix is my favourite this weekend!

DJ Sammy, a native of Mallorca, Spain, had his worldwide breakthrough in 2001 when he begun to put his own name to his work. The single “Heaven” helped DJ Sammy achieve massive success in Europe and Australia with 2 million records sold, then came to the US where “Heaven” reached No. 2 in U.S. Billboards HOT 100 before going to the UK in 2002 and hitting No.1. His latest single called “Feel The Love” got the commercial house treatment by the Buzz Junkies. Nice…

The British synthpop duo Erasure started their music career in 1985, since then 34 singles made it into the UK Top 40 and they sold over 25 million albums worldwide. The Wayne G and Porl Young remix of Erasure’s 1988 release “Chains Of Love” is my retro track this weekend.

And do not miss this interesting mash-up: No Doubt meets The Shapeshifters… Brilliant job! Have a groovy weekend!

Weekend Warm Up Show #111 9th/10th Of October

Hi again,

we are kicking off this weekend Hed Kandi style, my favourite this time is part of the latest HK release “Disco Heaven“. “Thinking About You” by Jonni Black Ft. NJ is 100% good time house music guaranteed to bring a smile into your face!

The Miami based DJ/producer Robbie Rivera is back with his new album “Closer To The Sun” (will be released in November) and the first single is the title track. Best enjoyed on a sunny beach but will also work on a hot dancefloor…

The follow up to Agnes‘ smash hit “Release Me” is due for release on the 16th november. “I Need You Now” originally a ballad on her Love Dance Pop album has been re sung and completely re produced into an amazing uptempo masterpiece. There are remixes coming from Cahill, Alex K and Jens Kindervarter (Real Booty Babes), I picked the excellent take from house legend Grant Nelson for you.

The retro track is another song from Hed Kandi’s Disco Heaven by Undercover Lover, “Who’s Been Sleeping In My Bed” samples Barry Manilow’s original from his 1979 album “One Voice”.

Hope you will enjoy the show!
