Show #110 - 2nd/3rd Of October

Hello Weekenders,

time for more hot house music, we gonna start this weekend with the Rudenko Project from Russia and their sundrenched song “Destination“. It’s autumn here in Germany now and if it is cold and wet for you at home too - close you eyes while listening, this song will bring back the summer…

Talking about cold and wet - it can be pretty nasty in San Francisco even during summertime! But the city is one of the most beautiful one I know. Marco Lys from Italy made an epic remix of a song by Mooli (the brainchild of Electronica Producer- and main songwriter Ben Copland) called “San Francisco Rain“. Excellent songwriting and vocals from heaven… LOVE it!

Originally performed by duo McFadden & Whitehead, the disco classic “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now” was released in 1979 and has often been embraced as a sports anthem. JR Disco’s remake of this classic was part of the show 10 weeks ago, this time we will listen to Taborah’s and Darryl D’Bonneau’s take, our retro track this weekend.

You probably know that I am a huge fan of Disco House and I have a brand new one for you which is my favourite this weekend: Joey Chicago, a young producer from Germany, created an irresistible piece of Disco House for you called “Add Some Spice“. 100% pure good time dance music, excellent!

Enjoy the weekend!

Weekend Warm Up 25th/26th Of September

Hi Party People,

and the beat goes on… We will start this weekend with the Retro Track: the best selling single by The Whispers, a R&B dance vocal group from California, was “And The Beat Goes On“. They hit #1 on the Billboard R&B charts and #2 in the U.K. in 1980 with this classic. The remake has been made by Beat Control from Cologne, Germany.

Diego Donati and Franco Amato, both from Italy, are also known as Hernandez Vs. DJ TYO. They had a couple of hits with “Let’s Get Down” (2005), “Let You Down” (2007) and “About Us” (2008) and also delivered awesome remixes like Noferini’sTill You Come Back“. Donati & Amato now made a new funky and piano driven track called “Funky Dee-Jay” (with delicious vocals from Wendy Lewis) with two mixes I am feeling the most, will spin the Alternative Main Mix later, the Hernandez Vs. DJ TYO remix is my favourite this weekend. Check it out!

Fresh and new for you from HJM Records: Dave Roy Bland’sGotta Get That“. On vocals: Emmalease, a singer / songwriter who has performed at venues and festivals all over the UK and USA and recorded various tracks with dance labels across the USA and Europe.

Want more brilliant vocals? No problem, listen to the wonderful Jes with Airscape, check out again Kelly Mueller’sShe Cries” and don’t miss the new Nadia Ali single “Fine Print“…

Showtime 18th/19th Of September

Hi Weekenders,

Michelle Lawson, born and raised in Bootle U.K., had her first public appearance at the age of six, in a local boozer. Her big break came in 2001 by winning the Urban Choice talent competition on Trevor Nelson’s BBC radio and TV shows. A new remix of “No Smoke“, a song that was originally released by her in 2004 (covered by several artists like the German girlgroup Queensberry), will kick off the show perfectly to warm up your next party weekend.

D:Ream was a Northern Irish pop rock / synthpop and dance band of the 1990s with several U.K. Top Ten hits and a number one with “Things Can Only Get Better“. They reformed in 2008 and are currently recording a new album for release in January 2010. The first single is already available to download, “All Things To All Men” is my track of the week - this is quality songwriting and the vocals are excellent! 10/10!

A remix of Sagi Rei’s version of the 90’s dance hit “Sweet Dreams” by La Bouche is my retro track this weekend. The original, released in 1994, went 5 times platinum and 9 times gold worldwide, peaking #1 in Italy and climbing to #13 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

Enjoy the weekend!

Weekend Warm Up Show 11th/12th Of September

Hi again,

like every week I listened to hundreds of new songs and it’s not easy to decide which one’s are the best to warm up your weekend - these eleven songs finally made it into the show No.107, hope you will enjoy!

Discopolis Records delievered 2 tracks to the mix: my favourite this weekend is the show opener, Ohmna aka Johan Groenewegen, a dutch producer and highly respected DJ, teamed up with Matt Adams and Nurlaila for the uplifting “It’s Your Life“, a song that is made to bring a smile into your face. Already featured on the Hed Kandi Summer Mix 2009 and set to be released on Discopolis in October.

The second Discopolis release is already available on several download stores, “Heaven With You” by Chris B with the wonderful Angie Brown on vocals is a piano led funky main room joint that has plenty of hands in the air moments. Highly recommended!

American Idol alumni and beat-boxing sensation Blake Lewis is set to release his second studio album, “Heartbreak on Vinyl“, on October 6th via Tommy Boy Entertainment. The excellent first single from this album, “Sad Song“, got the remix treatment by David Tort and Andy Caldwell, I picked the Jason Nevins mix for the show.

I am still in love with one of the best songs from 2008 by DJ Meme, “Chanson Du Soleil“. This little beauty got a couple of 2009 mixes, the Shane D rework has summer written all over it.

Hope we will all have a sunny weekend!

The Tracklist:

DJ’s Favourite This Week

The Retro Track
7. Soul Revenger - How’s Your Love (Vocal Mix)

8. Blake Lewis - Sad Song (Jason Nevins Extended Mix)

10. Coupe & Lucas - Louder (The Full Time Superstars Remix)
11. DJ Meme Ft. Gavin Bradley & Bruno Soares - Chanson De Soleil 2009 (Shane D’s Big Room Remix)

Who knows the original?

This remix by Soul Revenger will become my retro track soon - do you know the name of the original? Sounds like a 70’s track but I have no idea who made it… Any help would be highly appreciated!

Hello Party People,

strong new tracks for you this weekend - I have a couple of favourites, the first and “official” is a new Wheels & Disco track called “Sun Shine Down“. They took a Hed Kandi classic by Hott 22 (”No Promises“) and the Pet Shop Boys hit single “It’s Alright” and created a new sundrenched track, perfect for the end of the summer!

Listen to the original Hott 22 here:

Coming soon on Oxyd Records: LnM Projekt (L for Lee Hallett, M for Marcus Gauntlett) are perhaps best known as the producers of the hit single, “Everywhere” on Hed Kandi Records and have since featured on over thirty compilations with the track reaching a top twenty spot in no less than ten countries around the world. Their new release “Watching Me Move” featuring Elise on vocals has everything a worldwide floorfiller needs.
