Weekend Warm Up Show 31st Of July/1st Of August

Hi again,

time for the first of the next 100 shows… with the same funky and uplifting mix of party music we all enjoy! Another wicked WAWA remix will start the show, this time they reworked the new single of Toronto’s MSTRKRFT called “Heartbreaker” with John Legend on vocals. The result is - as always - awesome!

We have a couple of retro remixes and remakes this weekend like “I Can’t Wait” or “Let The Sun Shine“, the “official” retro this weekend is a rework of the Yazz and The Plastic Population 1988 smash hit “The Only Way Is Up” which was a No.1 in the UK, the Netherlands, Sweden and New Zealand but was not that successful in the U.S. (highest Billboard position was #96). Hands up in the air for the Soulmakers remix!

Ruud Mover aka DJ and producer Marcus Gauntlett is perhaps one of the most prolific producers on the scene over the last few years, having recorded under various aliases including ‘Bobkat‘ as well as being one half of top 40 act ‘LnM Project‘ (Hed Kandi), In addition to this he has also clocked up an impressive catalogue of cutting-edge club tracks under his own name.

Now in 2009 he returns under his new guise ‘Ruud Mover‘, together with the multi-talented model, TV Presenter and former member of girlband ‘CookieMarianne. Their debut single “Love Shock” features the catchy yet poignant lyrics from elusive US-based songwriter ‘Miss Amberlie‘ (who has also recently penned songs for various major top 10 Billboard artists). “D-Cord” aka Dale Corderoy delievers the quality piano driven mix. My favourite this weekend, 10/10!

We also have a brand new and exclusive Soulshaker remix, this time they did a perfect uplifting job on Cheri Moon’sShips In The Night“. Don’t have any infos about the artist but I can tell you that the vocals are brilliant!

As always - Enjoy the weekend!

Celebrating Show No.100 - 24th/25th Of July

Hello Party People,

let’s celebrate the Weekend Warm Up Show No.100 together - unbelievable that it is almost 2 years ago that I had the first show on air to kick off your weekend! Time to say THANK YOU to all the artists and record companies for the support and the fantastic music, to all the stations having the Weekend Warm Up Show on air every weekend and of course a HUGE thanks to YOU,  the listeners out there for making the Weekend Warm Up a world wide party! GRACIAS, THANKS, DANKE, MERCI, GRAZIE, BEDANKT, спасибо, TE EKKÜRLER, HVALA, GRAZZI, TAKK, OBRIGADO…

The opening track this week got a brilliant old school remix by no one else than K-Klass and is set to become a huge summer anthem: “Love Alibi‘ by Camboso with the soul legend Jocelyn Brown on vocals will be the debut release from UK’s new label Camboso Records.

If you visit the website of Kelly Mueller, one of U.K.’s most talented artists, this what you can read about her music:
If you take a girl with a sensitive heart, a fragile mind and an irrepressible love for music then introduced her to some odd and sometimes nasty life experiences and people. Now throw in some depression, insecurities and heartbreak for good measure and then lock her in a room with a piano, a voice, various other instruments and lots of patience to produce it all, and you’d come out of it with my music!
Cannot describe her music better than this… My favourite this weekend is the Bassmonkeys remix of her ballade “She Cries” - perfect songwriting meets awesome vocals meets a piano from heaven… Perfection, with this remix the Bassmonkeys have outdone themselfs again! 10/10 Special thanks are going out to Kelly and Dale for the permission to spin this unreleased song for you!

McFadden & Whitehead had their biggest chart success in 1979 with “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now“, they sold 8 million copies of this classic which was on #1 in the US R&B charts and on #13 in the pop charts. JR Disco remixed this track for us - who says disco is dead?? Our retro track this weekend!

Enjoy No.100 and your weekend!

Show No.99 17th/18th Of July

Hi Weekenders,

Cahill’s latest remix of ‘Right Here, Right Now‘ by Bodies Without Organs, a project by former Army Of Lovers member Alexander Barda, is a perfect showopener for this week’s edition of the Weekend Warm Up with plenty of new uplifting house for you.

My favourite this week is the Soulshaker remix of ‘Another Sleepless Night‘, originally released in 1990 by Shawn Christopher which reached #1 in the Hot Dance Club Play chart. The 2004 remake by Mad8 (’Deep Sleepless Night‘) got the remix treatment this year by several artists, the Soulshaker take is 100% pure party - perfection, LOVE the piano! 10/10!

The up-and-coming scottish duo Studiopunks once again teamed up with the fabulous Soraya Vivian for their new track ‘I Don’t Want Nobody‘, a cover of the Cherie Amore single released in 2000. Another big one for them - and there is more to come: they are currently putting the finishing touches to the next track which they have in the pipeline with the legendary Katherine Ellis called ”Feed The Fire”, hopefully soon on air too!

A remake of Brenda Russell’s biggest hit ‘Piano In The Dark‘, which hit #6 in the Billboard Hot 100 in 1988 is the Retro Track this weekend. Shanie, best know for her 90’s eurodance hits like ‘Don’t Give Me Your Life‘ covers this classic, on remix duty: 7th Heaven.

expect former favourites from past shows, brand new uplifting tracks and mixes by Moto Blanco, Freemasons or eSquire as well as funky summer tracks this weekend, guaranteed to warm up your weekend perfectly!

Mr D.Y.F. aka Dima Frolov is a DJ and club runner in the elite Moscow social scene and is behind the legendary Forbes nightclub. ‘Hold On‘ is his debut as a producer - Dima managed to get Shena into the studio after she had performed in Moscow one night and when Freemasons heard the track they instantly snapped it up for their label. Freemasons also remixed the track along with Stockholm Syndrome, Relight Orchestra, DJ Noiz and Vanyashiz.
Hold On‘ is one of those anthems that really has the ingredients to ensure one hell of a packed dancefloor. The catchy lyrics of Shena the voice behind many dance classics will surely have people singing along throughout the summer.
