Weekend Warm Up Show #157 3rd/4th Of September

Hello Weekenders,

it’s the first September weekend and it is already pretty cold and wet in my part of the world! Hate it… Some of the hottest remixers will help to keep us warm for a new party weekend - Richard Cutmore as example with another great job for Enrique Iglesias and his new single “Heartbeat“. Or eSquire Vs. Offbeat with their funky uplifting take of Eminem Ft. Rihanna’sLove The Way You Lie“. Much better than the original…

Two Come Back singles made it into the tracklist: the first new Ace Of Base song since 2003 (with 2 new vocalists) called “All For You” and Jamiroquai’sWhite Knuckle Ride” from their forthcoming album “Rock Dust Light Star” which got the remix treatment by Seamus Haji.

Not to be missed: the Nu Addiction Remix of “Bittersweet” by American Idol winner Fantasia and of course my favourite this week, the Saul Ruiz remix of “Cascade” by Deluka, a band based in Birmingham U.K. and Brooklyn U.S..

Weekend Warm Up Show 154 13th/14th Of August

LISTEN AGAIN HERE!

Hi again,

let’s kick off the weekend with a retro - “Now That We Found Love“, originally recorded by The O’Jays (1973), was a hit in 1981 for the reggae band Third World. A Hip Hop version by Heavy D & The Boyz made it into the charts again in 1991. If you’ve never heard these versions you might know the remake by Sunloverz which was a club success in 2009. Italy’s Antonio Falcone is next in line to cover this song with the Groovesplitters on the remix.

Dutch DJ and producer Damien S teamed up with vocalist Lee Thomas (4th Child - Now I Found You) for his new song “Long Lost Summer Love“. The Stereojackers are transforming this song into a full on hands in the air anthem, destined to be one of the summer anthems of 2010. My favourite this week.

You will also get a 2From1 again, both the Josh Harris and the Loverush UK! remixes of “Closer” by the wonderful JES are too good not to spin them this weekend - and so you will hear them in the mix… Enjoy!

What else? The brand new Electric Allstars remix of Jason Derulo’s latest single “What If“, Shena’sHow Come You’re Dancing” from her upcoming new Album remixed by Nu Addiction and the return of Disco Diva Linda Clifford. A perfect start into a party weekend!

Hi Weekenders,

happy days are here again - the weekend starts with a Chic remake by Seamus Haji, Mark Knight & Funkagenda. Chic’s 1979 hit “Good Times“, a #1 in the U.S. and #5 in the U.K. charts, became one of the most sampled songs in music history. The Retro Track this week.

Their 2009 release called “I Believe“, a cover of the first Marcella Detroit (Shakespears Sister) solo single from 1994, has been re-released by the newcomer label Mathouse Records from Hamburg, Germany and is coming with several mixes. Germanys Daedalus made a fantastic melodic remix with wonderful stings and a piano to die for… Definitely my favourite!

What else? New songs from Bob Sinclar, R.I.O., Chicane and Ezcapade, a collaboration of front lady Carina Lirola and Multi Platinum, Grammy Nominated record producers Love To Infinity who have accumulative sales of all their remixes and productions totalling 34 million units worldwide to date. Hi Again,

I know that many of you are enjoying the retro tracks I am spinning, it’s always nice to listen to goodies we know from the past and to hear some new versions. This weekend we’ll do a trip back in time as a couple of tracks are sampling songs we heard before.

The “official” retro is a disco classic from 1979, Jackie Moore hit #1 on the U.S. Hot Dance Music / Club Play Chart with “This Time Baby“. In 2005 the Freemasons sampled the song for their smash “Love On My Mind“. Agent Stereo from Chile worked on a Disco House version for you and did a good job!

My favourite this week is Bellatrax’ new version of Dave Lee aka Joey Negro’sMake A Move On Me“. U.K. producer/DJ/writer Chris Dececio’s updated the 2005 smash nicely. Essential on every commercial danceflloor!

Good news! The Official 2010 World Cup Song “Waka Waka” by Shakira got the Richard Cutmore treatment! The result is absolutely brilliant - the perfect happy feel good sound I am loving… The best way to kick off the weekend.

My favourite this time is a song that is not brand new - after 3 years of pre-releasing “Love To The Stars” by Alex Tripi and Nello Greco aka The ReLOUD from Rome Italy has been fully released on Ocean Trax. Brilliant songwriting, awesome vocals… This is simply excellent house music. 10/10!

Weekend Warm Up Show #147 25th/26th Of June

LISTEN AGAIN HERE!

Hi again,

I am back from Ibiza, had a wonderful time there, made new friends, enjoyed some sun (although we had some rain too…), had some nice drinks (I discovered that the british Cider is wonderful refreshing, best on ice!), but musically I was a bit disappointed. Bars and clubs do not play a lot of funky uplifting music there, so back home I had to go through hundreds of new tracks I got last week and a dozen of them made it into the new show, here is the result - enjoy!

Former glamour model and dance-pop singer Samantha Fox and the Italian singer, model and actress Sabrina Salerno both had a couple of chart successes in the 80’s and came together for the first time to cover the massive Blondie smash “Call Me” from 1980, taken from the soundtrack of “American Gigolo” with Richard Gere. The Original made it on No.1 in both the U.K. and the U.S.. The Andrea T Mendoza and Steven Tibet remix is the retro track this weekend.

Black Gold, a Brooklyn N.Y. based two man band formed in 2006 delievers my favourite this week. Their latest single “Shine” got some brilliant remix treatment by Dave Aude and Stonebridge. Hard to decide which one is better as both versions are strong - I picked the Stonebridge for you as my favourite.

And there is more: beautiful funky Vocal House old school style by Inaya Day, Diego Ray and Nick Corline released on Adaptor Records, the first House Keepers release in two years called “Better Forget” (the DJ Martin remix is excellent!), JR Disco reworked Gary Byrd’sThe Crown“…

No need to go to Ibiza to listen to good dance music! ;-)

The Tracklist:

1. Alexis Jordan - Happiness (Dave Aude Club Mix)
2. Inaya Day Vs. Diego Ray & Nick Corline - Til The Morning Comes (Diego Ray Original Mix)

The Retro Track
3. Samantha Vs. Sabrina - Call Me (Andrea T Mendoza Vs. Tibet Original Club)

4. Alain Bertoni Ft. Jimmy Splitter - Shining Star (Old School Remix)
5. Retrodance - Don’t Stop The Music Please (Ariel Perazzolli Remix)
6. Kylie Minogue - All The Lovers (Wawa & MMB Anthem Mix)
7. Wayne G & Peyton - Ur The Best Thing (Steve Westover Original Mix)
8. The House Keepers Ft. Camille Jones - Better Forget (DJ Martin Remix)

DJ’s Favourite This Week
9. Black & Gold - Shine (Stonebridge Club Mix)

10. Junior Caldera Ft. Sophie Ellis Bextor - Can’t Fight This Feeling (Avicii Universe Mix)
11. Michael Canitrot - You & I (Original Extended Mix)
12. JR Disco Ft. Gary - The Crown
