Weekend Warm Up 27th/28th Of February

Hey Weekenders,

we are starting the party this week with the Comic Relief single by The Saturdays, their remake of Depeche Mode’s synth-pop classic ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ (remix by the Wideboys) is my retro track this week and is uplifting enough to become the perfect show opener. Good time dance music!
The feel good hit of the summer is here to kick start 2009 - Carlo Dall’anese & Fabio Castros’s ‘Monday’!. Oxyd Records goes for international stardom for Carlo and Fabio with the help of a monster remix from Henry John Morgan. What better way to accompany such a big vocal track than with the heavenly Ibiza drenched piano sounds from HJM, sure to make a big impact in Ibiza and currently getting hammered all over Radio 1. 10/10, my favourite this week!
I am sure that you missed her here at the Weekend Warm Up as much as I did… But finally Amanda Wilson is back with a brand new track released on Airplane, the Masstaff Remix of ‘Spin It Again’ has exactly everything a track needs to become part of the Weekend Warm Up Show! Highly recommended…
The last track of the show has written ‘Weekend Warm Up’ all over it - ‘I Can Stop The Rain’ by singer / songwriter Carol Hahn is her 3rd release on her own label Beagle Boy Music since her comeback in 2008. She already had several charting dance records in the 80’s (‘Into the Night’, ‘Do Your Best’, ‘Your Love is all I Need’) and it is great to have her back - excellent vocals, lot’s of energy, perfection! Lenny B’s take is my favourite, classic disco meets todays hot club sound - great job, another 10/10!
Have a perfect party weekend!

Showtime 20th/21st Of February

Hi again,

Kardinal Offishall delivers the retro track this week?! Well not really, you might know Keri Hilson’s part of the song. Blondie had a big hit in 1980 with ‘The Tide Is High’. The Moto Blanco mix has the usual good time dance music quality!
My favourite this week comes from Iglu & Hartly, an American Hip-Hop/New Wave band from California.Their single “In This City” was released in September 2008 and was identified as “an anthem in the making” by an NME blogger. The band played this song on an episode of Friday Night With Jonathan Ross on BBC1 in the UK, and it has since rose to number five in the UK Charts, securing the band their first hit. The Manhattan Clique mix (they also worked for Erasure, Kylie Minogue, Moby) is perfect for the commercial dancefloor.
The Digital Dogs remix of Taylor Swift’s ‘Love Story’, a new take by the Soul Avengerz of the Joey Negro classic ‘Make A Move On Me’ and their own awesome new release ‘Heard It All Before’ (LOVE the funky Laurent Schark remix!) - there is much more to enjoy!
Please join me for another great Weekend Warm Up this weekend!

WUPS 13th/14th Of February

Hey Party People,
friday the 13th… not a bad day for the Weekend Warm Up, check the tracklist and listen to the mix, this day is a lucky one for every weekender!
We will start with the retro track this week, it is the 7th Heaven remake of the early 90s pop classic from duo Banderas ‘This Is Your Life’ . Several versions are available, as example from Fish & Chips or Chriss Ortega. My pick is the Club Junkies Mix.
Freshly delivered from Oxyd Record is Flower Power’s ‘Forbidden Fruit’. Up and coming producers/remixers Henry John Morgan made another great job with this remix.
This is what Sharam (Deep Dish) has to say about Dean Coleman’s ‘I Want You’ : “Dave Aude perfectly combines the dark and the light. My biggest record this month.”  I agree. Excellent song, great remix!
No doubt about it that New Order’s ‘Blue Monday’ is one of the biggest 80’s hits. Kurd Maverick is bringing back this classic to the dancefloors today, the Vandalism mix comes with some new ideas and they don’t destroy the original feeling. Perfect work!
One of the biggest newcomer in 2008 was Ladyhawke aka Pip Brown from New Zealand. Her debut single ‘Paris Is Burning’ will be re-released in March and features remixes by Matthew Dekay and Innerpartysystem as well as the fantastic Simmons & Christopher take we will listen to. Looks like these guys can never fail! Absolutely my favourite this weekend!

Weekend Warm Up 6th/7th Of February

Hey Weekenders,

time to party again with more excellent brand new club tunes, more funky releases, more disco/retro tracks… A perfect start into your weekend! Enjoy!
Cunnie Williams and Monie Love’s hit single “Saturday” was first released on Peppermint Jam back in 1998 and subsequently becoming one of their bestselling vinyl releases. That’s why they decided to simply update this classic in 2009 and enlisted some of their favourite artists to re-work this favourite… Besides Fedde Le Grand, Samir Maslo and Nari & Milani, Alex Gaudino and Jason Rooney delivered a killer house mix with great use of the original hook.
Nicola Fasano & Pat Rich’s follow up to their smash hit “75, Brasil Street” is here! They called it - how creative! - “76, Ocean Drive” and are sampling Santa Esmeralda’s “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood”.
20 year old DJ / Producer S.K.T. from North London and the fantastic Daniel E. Walker on vocals are delivering my favourite this weekend with the help of two very talented DJ’s/producers/remixers called Hi-Volume. Their funky take of “Another Love” is amazing - I LOVE the saxophone… Essential!
Having already spent six weeks at number one on download last year, P. Liassi and Tyrrell have reissued “Made In Five Minutes” with a classic 80’s vocal melody from Jomanda.
To now create a definitive re-working of these massive club tracks, P. Liassi (Supafly Inc., Amen UK , De Funk, A vs.B, and PACJAM) has teamed up with Tyrrell, who has been at the cutting edge of music production for nearly two decades (from Blue Pearl and P.M. Dawn to collaborations with Supafly Inc). They have shown the two original classics a lot of respect and have recreated them with modern fat production to create a club monster.
The Tracklist
1. Eleze - Teardrop (Fonzerelli Remix)
2. Cunnie Williams Ft. Monie Love - Saturday (Alex Gaudino & Jason Rooney Remix)
3. Nicola Fasano & Pat Rich - 76, Ocean Drive (Original Mix)
4. Henry John Morgan - Cherokee Go With It (Wez Clarke ReRub)
5. Black Shadow - So Much Time (The White Mix)
6. Doman & Gooding - Runnin’ (Main Mix No Rap)
The Retro Track
7. Funkbox - Coming (Original Mix)
DJ’s Favourite This Week
8. S.K.T. Feat. Daniel E. Walker - Another Love (Hi-Volume Remix)
9. H&H Soul Survivors & Dewey Cioffi Ft. Tonni Smith - Too Many Nights (DC Production Mix)
10. DJ EQ - Long Time (JR Disco Cadillac Remix)
11. Jacinta - Electric Universe (Robert G. Remix)
